Dear supporters and contributors,
The November issue of The Richmond River Sun is jam-packed with news and Christmas shopping suggestions.
On the local-government front, it contains the first Donella’s Desk column, our regular contribution from Richmond Valley councillor Donella Kinnish; several items arising from The Sun’s first monthly interview with mayor Col Sullivan and the last column by Cr Owen Crawford as president of the Casino Ratepayers and Residents Association.
The new council line-up already has taken several important steps towards improved community consultation and transparency of council processes and The Sun continues to present all the details.
Our print run for the edition was 10,000.
Highlights of the November edition include:
- News that development is clear for take-off at the Evans Head Memorial Aerodrome.
- The announcement of three new Australia Day awards.
- Federal Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner advising on local frozen funds.
- Community requests for Bendigo Bank to open a branch at Woodburn.
- A report on Federal Member for Page Janelle Saffin’s field trip to Richmond River County Council projects on the Richmond floodplain.
- An interview with new NSW Sugar Milling Cooperative chief executive officer Chris Connors.
Other excellent contributions include art, ratepayers’ columns, Letters to the Editor, School News, Flab to Fab, and more.
Thank you, all!
Apologies to the several writers whose efforts did not appear in this issue, even though we received their offerings before deadline. We have already added extra pages to our December edition to make sure there is room for you to have your say.
The deadline for contributions to our December edition is Wednesday, November 26 and all articles, pictures, letters and emails are welcome.
Although it is still some time away, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Maria Walsh
